Richard Boukas of Duo Brasileiro

Richard Boukas of Duo Brasileiro

Richard Boukas and itinerant bassist Gustavo Amarante have been bandmates for several years in three different ensembles: QUARTETO MODERNO, TRIO BRASILEIRO and DUO BRASILEIRO.

DUO BRASILEIRO was formed organically to serve more intimate performance venues. The repertoire presented by the duo is similar in character to the acclaimed Trio Brasileiro:

BRAZILIAN SONGBOOK composers including: Jobim, Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta

BRAZILIAN GUITAR LEGENDS: Garôto, Luiz Bonfá, Baden Powell, Rafael Rabello

"Gustavo is the perfect bassist for guitar duo", says Boukas. "His groove is so solid and complete that it feels as if there is a drummer embedded in his playing. He is also a brilliant improvising soloist which contributes another important interactive dimension to the music."
