Wendy Law - Richard Boukas Duo
Some of the original compositions were written initially for violoncello and guitar, while others (including pieces for the acclaimed Brazilian Jazz ensemble Quarteto Moderno) were adapted. Some pieces include Boukas vocals as a second thematic voice. Their programs include also music for violoncello solo (hear recording of Choro Branco below, track 9), and duo interpretations of Brazilian composers including Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim, Guinga and Radamés Gnattali.
The Duo presented its debut concert at The New School, where Boukas is longtime educator and artist faculty.

An active chamber musician, she has collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, Borromeo String Quartet and Arnold Steinhardt among others. Ms. Law is also a proponent of interdisciplinary arts, including performances of the Bach Cello Suites with the Juilliard Dance Ensemble choreographed by Igal Perry, VisionIntoArt, and The Core Ensemble.
In addition to her active performance schedule, Ms. Law is a Teaching Artist at the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and founder/Artistic Director of the professional chamber ensemble Classical Jam. For more information, visit www.wendylaw.com.
Besides our duo music, I plan on writing more unaccompanied cello pieces such as 'Choro Branco' (see audio player at left)."
